Generation plants on the low-voltage network (VDE-AR-N 4105)
VDE-AR-N 4105 forms the technical basis for the connection and operation of generating systems on the low-voltage grid. Inverters must be certified accordingly.
Installation of low-voltage systems (standard DIN VDE V 0100-551-1)
This sets out requirements for the categories of connection of a power generation system. It is explicitly required that a mini solar system should be connected via a special power connector. Since electrical systems in buildings are designed for a central power supply, an assessment and possibly an adjustment of the circuit must be carried out by a qualified electrician for protection. This is what the standard is intended to guarantee.
With the amendment of DIN VDE 0100-551-1:2016-09, the connection of a plug-in solar device by a layperson in final circuits undoubtedly complies with the generally accepted rules of technology (aaRdT).
Feeding into separate circuits (standard DIN VDE V 0628‐1)
This standard simply states that the Wieland plug was developed specifically for feeding in electricity from a solar system. This leads to a lower risk of improper use by laypeople, for example.
Due to its specific application and the resulting properties, a Wieland plug is undoubtedly safer. However, it is disputed whether this level of safety is decisive, because among the more than 200,000 system owners who operate mini PV with Schuko plugs, there have been no cases of damage to date.
